Green Cleaning
Many widely available detergents, dish soaps, and cleaning agents contain harmful, highly toxic chemicals that threaten human health as well as the health of our waterways. Wastewater containing these toxic chemicals washes down the drain and into the environment where they can cause large-scale pollution problems, affect ecosystems and even contaminate our drinking water. There are a growing number of non-toxic cleaning products available.
Blue Action: Source non-toxic cleaning products.
This includes disinfectants, surface cleaners, dish soap, hand soap, and beyond.
CASE STUDY:
In 2006, Adobe Systems Incorporated required that all janitorial products in use at their East and Almaden headquarters in San Jose meet the Green Seal Cleaning Products Standard for non-toxic cleaning products. The Green Seal certification ensures that products or services meet rigorous performance, health, and environmental criteria before being certified.
