Choosing Your Seafood

Our daily food choices are some of the most impactful decisions we make, and this is particularly true when it comes to sourcing seafood.

Overall, the best choices we can make are to:

Eat less seafood, to reduce our consumption overall

Choose local and seasonal seafood that are well managed

Choose smaller fish that are lower on the food chain and reduce pressure on keystone species such as top predators

Choose invasive species (like lionfish in the Caribbean) that have detrimental effects on native marine biodiversity

Choose seafood that is caught through minimally harmful fishing practices
