Glitter

Reduce glitter & choose non-plastic options

Alternatives to standard plastic glitter are available and many events are moving away from its use altogether. Explore fully biodegradable options, or use other forms of decoration, such as non-toxic face painting.

Source biodegradable glitter made from plant cellulose, such as from sustainably sourced Eucalyptus trees. Some options degrade 90% in nature in just 30 days.

Warning: Do not be misled by compostable plastic glitter! Commercially compostable plastic glitter acts like microplastics in the environment.

DID YOU KNOW:

The plastic in glitter can take up to 1,000 years to completely biodegrade. Its tiny size means glitter passes through water filtration systems and ends up in waterways, oceans and marine life. Fish containing microplastics are increasingly consumed by humans.
